Section C. Application Procedure

1. Accreditation procedure:

The doctor should apply for a residency place by completing a form and submitting it to the Ministry of Health of Cyprus. If their application is accepted, they will be summoned to take an exam, consisting of 30 questions mainly focused on Internal Medicine and Surgical clinical cases. In order to succeed in the exam, they should acquire a score higher than 50%. If they succeed in the exam, they attend an interview by a commitee of 4 doctors.

2. Other requirements:

Before applying for a residency place, the doctors should get their degrees recognised by the Cyprus Government.

3. Differences in application procedure depending on country of origin:

EU citizens can practice medicine by right. Other citizens should apply for a license.

4. Ratio between applicants and physicians who finally obtain a residency position:

For each exam session, which may be once a year, there can be as few as 2 residency positions.
