EMSA

Every medical student in Greece can be active in EMSA via HelMSIC. HelMSIC constitutes one of the most active members of EMSA. All of our 7 local committees are Faculty Member Organisations (FMOs) of EMSA.

The European Medical Students’ Association was established in 1990 and is one of the most successful European students’ organizations.

EMSA is much more than just an organisation. It is an enthusiastic international team of medical students that acts as a platform of communication between medical students, organises projects in local and European level and constitutes the voice of medical students in Europe.

EMSA is recognized by the European Parliament, the European Commission, and the United Nations. The association provides a platform for high-level advocacy, projects, trainings, workshops and international meetings. Its activities gather around Medical Education, Medical Ethics and Human Rights, Health Policy, Public Health, Medical Science and European Integration and Culture.

EMSA’s vision | EMSA envisions a united and solidary Europe in which medical students actively promote health.

EMSA’s mission | EMSA empowers medical students to advocate health in all policies, excellence in medical research, interprofessional healthcare education and protection of human rights across Europe.

“The idea of creating an organisation of medical students in Europe was born approximately 27 years before in a symposium of medical students in the Catholic University of Leuven in Belgium. In 1991 in Brussels, under the auspices of the Belgium Kingdom, the first General Assembly of EMSA was held. EMSA has active FMOs – Faculty Member Organisations in 30 countries in Geographical Europe.”
